The future of the Women's Pavilion

The Women's Pavilion is an important part of San Antonio's history - it symbolizes the contributions by women in this community and around the world to the arts, science, business, government, sports, home and family. Efforts are currently underway to revitalize the building and restore it to a public use building with architectural and historical significance.

The completed Pavilion will be a place of meeting and an event venue for women's groups and the general public - it will also act as a setting for VIP receptions, press conferences and other private events. Throughout the year, the Pavilion will partner with other museums, organizations and agencies to design programs and attractions including exhibits, lectures, classes and community events. The revitalized Women's Pavilion will be an economic generator for the city by attracting additional visitors to Hemisfair Park and downtown, further enhancing tourism to the Alamo city.

Plans are also underway for a Library of Congress StoryCorps center, WiFi Hot Spot capabilities along with terrace and roof gardens. The Women's Pavilion restoration project is the result of work done by a group of dedicated visionaries and groups like the San Antonio Women's Chamber of Commerce and the Mayor's Commission on the Status of Women along with contributions from individuals like Sherry Kafka Wagner and Ginger Purdy.
